Modern Slavery

1. Statement of Commitment

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and confirms the steps taken by Hanlon Software Solutions to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains.

Hanlon Software Solutions is a private limited company employing approximately 10 employees, delivering software solutions for the economic development sector, primarily to UK public sector organisations. Our operations are UK-based.

We support the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Social Value Model and are committed to upholding ethical labour standards, human rights, and transparency in all business activities.

2. Governance and Responsibility

Responsibility for preventing modern slavery sits with senior management, who:

  • Approve this statement annually
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law
  • Oversee supplier due diligence
  • Act as the escalation point for any concerns

3. Risk Assessment

Given the nature of our business:

  • Digital services (no physical manufacturing)
  • UK-based workforce
  • Minimal and low-risk supply chain

We assess the overall risk of modern slavery in our operations as low.

Potential risk areas are limited to:

  • Subcontracted professional services
  • IT and cloud service providers

Risk assessments are reviewed annually or when new suppliers are engaged.

4. Supply Chain Due Diligence

In line with CCS framework requirements, we apply proportionate due diligence by:

  • Using reputable suppliers, primarily UK-based
  • Requesting confirmation of Modern Slavery Act compliance
  • Reviewing supplier policies where available
  • Including modern slavery and termination clauses in contracts where appropriate
  • Issuing a Supplier Code of Conduct to relevant suppliers

We expect suppliers to cascade these standards through their own supply chains.

5. Employment and Recruitment Practices

We ensure that:

  • All employees have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Employment is freely chosen
  • Pay meets or exceeds statutory minimums
  • Working hours comply with UK legislation
  • No recruitment fees are charged to workers

6. Training and Awareness

Given our size, we maintain awareness through:

  • Senior management briefings
  • Clear guidance on ethical behaviour
  • Ensuring staff know how to identify and report concerns

This approach is proportionate and appropriate for a small technology provider operating under CCS frameworks.

7. Reporting and Whistleblowing

Concerns relating to modern slavery or unethical behaviour can be raised:

  • Directly with senior management
  • Via our whistleblowing process

Concerns relating to modern slavery or unethical behaviour can be raised:

8. Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

We commit to:

  • Annual review of this statement
  • Ongoing supplier monitoring where relevant
  • Updating processes as CCS guidance evolves
  • Continuous alignment with government procurement requirements
